“For Our Girls” Fun Run/Walk
The “For Our Girls” Fun Run/Walk was founded and organized by Peg Havens, a teacher at Shawnee High School. We will always remember with heartfelt gratitude all you have done to keep the memory of the girls alive. Thank you, Peg. We would also like to express our appreciation to the numerous individuals who gave their time and to the businesses who sponsored the run. Marilyn Charles and the Pineland Striders also deserve much thanks for manning the finish lines and race results.
One final thank you to Mike Bacon, also a Shawnee High School teacher, who created a memorial at the girls’ high school. After every run, the participants and attendees gathered around this beautiful memorial to hold a moment of silence to remember the girls. Thank you for creating this memorial for our precious gems, Mike.
Pineland Strider’s Independence Day Run

The South Jersey Cyclists Club PGM Race
Led by President Ed Weirauch, the South Jersey Cyclists Club hosted a benefit ride on behalf of the Precious Gems Memorial. This event took place over four days, during the time of the Summer Solstice. Robert Trivette, judge of Dare County, and his wife, Donna, attended the race, as well as Police Detective James Mulford of Kill Devil Hills. Detective Mulford and Judge Trivette requested a tour of the area to learn more about the community in which the girls had lived. We will forever be grateful for your compassion, time and service. We would also like to give our thanks to all of our sponsors.
